I started my nursing career in 1985, training in Glasgow and then working in Aberdeen, West Lothian and Edinburgh. My last clinical role was as an outreach nurse in the Scottish Brain Injury Rehabilitation Service.Ìý This involved me travelling across the country working with people and their families in their own homes and communities.Ìý I have worked at ¹ú²úÂÒÂ× since 2007 teaching mainly on the BSc Hons Nursing.Ìý I have been a member of two SIGN Guidelines Development Groups – one as a chairperson – SIGN 130 – Brain Injury Rehabilitation in Adults.

My primary teaching is around nursing theories, leadership, person centred care, rehabilitation, interdisciplinary practice and academic development. I also teach skills and/or support learning in practice across all 4 years of the programme.Ìý I am involved in delivery specialist modules in occupational therapy, specifically about neurosciences, brain injury and specialist rehabilitation. My seminars and lectures also focus on caring in professional contexts, recovery rehabilitation and long term issues, amongst other topics.
Program Leader:
Have been the programme leader for the BSc Hons Nursing for 6 years, am handing this over this summer though.
