Having obtained a First Class Honours Degree in Sociolinguistics from Kadi Ayad University (Marrakech, Morocco), I undertook a Postgraduate Certificate in Tertiary Education (TQFE) at The University of Stirling and went on to obtain an MSc in Professional Learning from the same university. Following this I undertook part-time doctoral studies and obtained a PhD from The University of Stirling.
For a number of years, I worked as an Associate Lecturer at the Open University as well as contributing to research projects while I was there. I also worked as a lecturer in the Further Education sector, leading initiatives on internationalisation. I have since worked at 国产乱伦 as a lecturer in the Division of Psychology, Sociology and Education.

My doctoral studies brought together critical rhizomatic narrative, postcolonial and decolonial theories, indigenous, critical race theory, post-structuralist ethics and posthumanism in order to critically reflect on the prevailing discourses and practices of internationalisation. Subsequently, I have fostered a broader research agenda which addresses the following strands:
- The post/decolonial context of education: In reading education and curricula practices, including internationalisation of education through a post/decolonial lens, I am interested in exploring the pervasive saturation of knowledge, academic practices and subjectivities with colonial logic.
- Global Citizenship Education: I am interested in exploring some of the tensions inherent in the current discourses of global citizenship. In particular, what happens when we locate the discussion of global citizenship within a broader context of coloniality and the 鈥渟ecuritisation鈥 of immigration, crimmigration and the ensuing drive to delegitimise the mobility of others (variously constituted as 鈥渢he refugee, the asylum seeker, the illegal immigrant, the non-citizen鈥).
- Decolonial Ecology: I am interested in situating the issues of sustainability and Education for Sustainability within the context of colonialism. I explore some of the ways in which coloniality has and continues to structure the production of ecological knowledge that occludes other ways of knowing and being.
