Admire is a social scientist with over 15 years’ experience of working on cross-cutting policy, social, economic, environmental and institutional issues focused on climate change and health, climate risk management, adaptation and food security.
He has a PhD in Development Policy and Management from the University of Manchester and a Masters in Sociology and Social Anthropology from the University of Zimbabwe. Admire has worked in both stable and fragile contexts, with primary fieldwork research experience in South Africa, Namibia, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Zambia and Mozambique.
He has received grants (as principal investigator and co-investigator) from global research funders and national government departments which include Wellcome Trust, World Health Organisation, Grand Challenges Canada, International Development Research Centre (IDRC), United Kingdom’s Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA), and South Africa’s National Departments of Agriculture; Environment; and Social Development.
Admire joined the IGHD in January 2025 as a Lecturer in Health Systems and Climate Change. Prior to joining the IGHD, he worked as a lecturer and researcher at different academic and research institutions, including at the University of Cape Town, Human Sciences Research Council (South Africa) and the Institute of Natural Resources.
