The overall aim of the BSc (Hons) Podiatry programme is to facilitate the development of graduate podiatrists with the transferable, intellectual and professional capabilities needed to contribute to sustainable health and well-being of individuals and society, to advance their own practice and that of their profession.ÌýÌý
Podiatry is a specialist area of healthcare, allied to medicine which involves care and maintenance of foot and lower limb conditions. Podiatrists are health care professionals who have been trained to prevent, diagnose, treat and rehabilitate abnormal conditions of the feet and lower limbs. They also prevent and correct deformity, keep people mobile and active, relieve pain and treat infections. Podiatry offers the opportunity to work in a range of specialist disciplines, including diabetes care, musculoskeletal practice and rheumatology.

Key features
Placements :Ìý
The BSc Hons Podiatry programme offers clinical placements throughout all four years of studies. All the clinical modules collectively are designed to prepare the student for practitioner status (including eligibility to apply for registration with the HCPC though the international route) as a podiatrist.
The majority of the placement hours for years 1-4 is held in the MC purpose built in-house Podiatry clinic, which holds 8 chairs. Also, clinical placements in a variety of clinical contexts are set throughout the four years of study, offered extra by MC, in order to enhance student clinical experience.
Level 4 placements aim to consolidate all clinical practice skills, as well as giving students the opportunity to start to develop specialist areas of interest in practice. Students pay visits in National hospitals and they are taking part in decision making among a multidisciplinary team. They also perform a clinical examination in a Gait & Motion Lab together with the physiotherapy team of the Lab.
To qualify for the award of BSc (Hons) Podiatry, students must successfully complete a minimum of 1000 hours of practice-based learning. The majority of those hours are covered inside the in-house Clinic through the 4 years (~200-250h practice per year).
Professional registration :
Podiatry is not a regulated profession in Greece; graduates are eligible to apply for registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) through the international route.
Admission criteria
Applicants, in order to be considered for admission should have a Greek Secondary School Diploma / ‘Apolyterion of Lykeio’ or equivalent (e.g., International Baccalaureate, European Baccalaureate, etc.) with a grade 10 or above. This requirement is in line with the Greek government’s minimum standard for access to higher education.
High school leaving certificates issued by vocational Lyceums, such as TEE or EPAL and foreign certificates which are equivalent to the Greek Lyceum certificate (e.g. International Baccalaureate, European Baccalaureate, etc.) are also accepted.
Non-native Greek speakers, may be admitted to the programme on demonstrating that:
- a) They hold a qualification recognised by ¹ú²úÂÒÂ× for admission to undergraduate programmes, as documented in the University Admissions Regulations.
- b) They hold a certificate of attainment in Greek at Level D
